Dallas was uneventful, although it seemed really hard to find where you were going, probably because we had never been to Dallas before. I was REALLY sick of my clothes and hated to put them on again. We got news mid day that Cary and co (Daniel, Sophia, Nolan, Ava) had their LR connection cancelled and were going to have to drive as well... They ended up missing out on Bennie's party and Sophia's birthday party.
We powered through Texas, which was beautiful. It did not look like
what I thought it would look like. We stopped in Hooks, TX to eat some "Texas Barbeque" (Ann's request) and grabbed some souveniers. I got a horse tail braided keychain, a t shirt, and fudge. Once we were in Arkansas, we went through Texarkana, Hope (with a quick side trip to view Pres. Clinton's birthplace)
, and Arkadelphia (love these names).
I got directions from Katie Jo and we finally got to her house at about 6 pm.
When we pulled up, there was a huge sign that said "PHILLIPS COUSINS REUNION"- Ann started crying and we got out to hugs and greetings. Katie Jo, Kitty, Phil, and Nancy (who was out shopping, but soon came) were there. We finally got a hold on where our luggage was (Little Rock Airport) and Mom/Dad ran out to the airport to get the bags while I went and checked in to the hotel and went to Bennie Jean's house for the party with the rest of the crew.
The party at Bennie's house was so much fun. Her new house is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and so lovely. She has this great screened porch on the back that is perfect for sitting. Her kids and grandkids were helping to host- it's funny to see all these people that are now nine years older than the last time you saw them, but somehow, you fit right in no matter what.
We had such a great dinner- ham, fried potatoes, and green beans, with several cakes for dessert- everyone caught up and as the evening came to a close, most everyone decided to go to a little "afterparty" at Katie and Kitty's house. We were there until about 12:30, listening to stories of years past and antics that our parents did... too funny. Some "too funny" to write down, if you know what I mean. Headed back to the hotel and crashed-
